Organization Chart

• A total of 21 members of the 9th Gyeongju City Council including 18 members from 8 electoral districts and 3 proportional representatives were elected through a local council election held on June 1 , 2022.
• The term of the council members is 4 years and the rights of the members include the right to propose a bill, the right to motion, the right to speak, the right to participate in voting, the right to introduce petitions and to call special meetings.
• Gyeongju City Council has 1 chairperson and 1 vice chairperson whose term of office is for 2 years. The chairperson represents the council, runs council meetings, maintains order within the chamber and supervises council affairs. In the absence of the chairman, the vice chairperson acts as chairman.
• Meetings bodies of the council include general meetings and committees. Committees include standing committees and special committees.
• A general meeting is a meeting of the entire council members. It serves asa meeting that makes the final decisions of the council. It handles agendas approved by the standing committees and special committees, voting, agendas directly submitted to a general meeting for discussion, various reports as well as questions.
• A standing committee is organized according to an ordinance and they can be opened when a committee chairperson is needed to oversee and evaluate a certain matter more effectively and in depth, when one third of the council members demands it or when the chairperson of the council finds it necessary.

Currently, there are 4 standing committees under Gyeongju City Council; Steering Committee. 

Special Committee

Special committees are formed and operated upon the decision of general meeting to evaluate and discuss special agendas or agendas related to those discussed in standing committees. Special committees like the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts continue to exist until the evaluated agenda is resolved at the general meeting. The term of the members of the special committees lasts until the committees exist.
